When Mercedes Benz introduces something new, other car companies usually follow suit with their own versions of the idea. And that’s the case with the newly released BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe. It’s a CLS-fighting 4-door coupe, based on the 6-Series, uhm, coupe.
Yeah, I know. The whole 4-door coupe name makes about as much sense as Rosie running for President. If a car has 4 doors, it should be called what it is i.e. A Sedan.
While the back seat area of most of these stylish sedans may lack any meaningful room, you do get achingly beautiful proportions. And the interiors are just as sexy too. Such is the case with BMW’s latest sport SEDAN; the 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe. It looks badass, and it drives like a proper Bimmer, sans the floaty ride.
Though the 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe has barely made it to dealer showrooms, it’s already been breathed upon by the legendary German tuning house; AC Schnitzer. According to their press stats, the Euro-spec 320-hp (315-hp Stateside) 3.0 straight-6 Turbo gets boosted to an even 360-hp. And the diesel engine (N/A North America) gets tuned to the same 360-hp station. They failed to say how they did it (besides the ambiguous sport muffler), but we assume the ECU was reprogrammed.
Other goodies fitted to the AC Schnitzer edition BMW 640i Gran Coupe include 8-piston brake calipers, Schnitzer springs, an aggressive Schnitzer bodykit, a sport steering wheel, aluminum interior trim bits, and your choice of 19”, 20” or 21” wheels. According to Schnitzer, an export version will be available…thank the car gods!
