Last week, we reported on a rather limp-wristed tuned Volvo V40. But this one comes from Polestar (Volvo’s outsource tunning department), so it’s got some serious Swedish meatballs.
While the Polestar Volvo S60 is officially a concept, they’ve hinted at a limited production run, if sufficient interest is generated. This mad Volvo has a ginormous Garret turbo bolted to the T6 engine, along with custom heads, and a bespoke Polestar induction system. All of this mechanical trickery yields an impressive 508-hp & 424 ft-lb of torque. Other improvements include a lowered suspension, reinforced chassis, wider front & rear tracks, 6-piston Brembo brakes, an upgraded Haldex AWD system, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 3.5-inch stainless steel exhaust system. The car’s weight has also been reduced by 206 lbs.
Performance figures for the Smurf Lurid Blue (aka Swedish Racing Green) S60 are 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, and a top speed of 186 mph. Polestar built this unbelievable Volvo for an unnamed American client (Jay Leno perhaps?), and it came with an equally unbelievable sticker price of $300,000! Plus, if you coughed up the same amount of cash, they’d probably built you an insane Volvo S60 too.
However, for $300k, you could buy a 2012 BMW M5, a 2012 Mercedes E63 AMG, a 2012 Jaguar XJ Supersport, and still have money leftover to buy yourself something silly. Like a pet elephant…
