The Ford F-150 is as American as apple pie, baseball, and Jerry Springer. They can do anything, go anywhere, and look good doing both. They appeal to everyone from plumbers, to Texas soccer moms, so Ford decided to make it easier for fleets and governments to start using them too.
The 2013 Ford F-150 is now available (to fleet customers only) with a special package called: Special Service Vehicle, or SSV for short. This no-cost option includes numerous improvements, designed to make the truck better suited to special tasks like law enforcement, or emergency services. The SSV pack comes standard with a 220-amp alternator, to power light bars, and other accessories. And it gets a specially designed interior too.
Available on SuperCab & SuperCrew models, the front seat of SSV gets the center portion of the 40/20/40 bench omitted, to make room for communications equipment/firearms installations. The seat is covered in an easy-to-clean cloth material, and the rear seat is upholstered in heavy-duty vinyl.
Options for the 2013 Ford F-150 SSV include 4-wheel drive, the 365-hp 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 (the 360-hp 5.0 V8 comes standard), skid plates, and heavy-duty tires. Most other F-150 options will also be available.
